::: in heaven there is no beer? ::: Members of Traverse City's Watershed Church meet for worship every Sunday at Building 50 in the Grand Traverse Commons. Some of them also meet up on Thursdays at Right Brain Brewery for a little something pastor Bryan Berghoeff calls "Pub Theology." The idea is to provide a casual place to talk about faith and engage in discussion and debate with others, all while enjoying a delicious craft-brewed beer. Pub Theology attracts folks from outside the Watershed Church, and even atheists and agnostics. A couple Thursdays ago, Radio Anyway's Linnaea Melcarek spent the evening drinking a beer—an IPA, to be exact--and talking about God with the other pub theologists. Bryan hands out topics for discussion, with instructions to "take 'em or leave 'em." Questions like, "was there ever a before time?" or "How would you define a miracle?" Bryan says, even though he's a pastor, he’s not there to preach.

::: napa valley=old and busted. northern michigan=new hotness ::: Local wines are grabbing more attention nationally, particularly whites whose grapes are suited to the temperate northwestern Michigan climate. In the 7th edition of the Robert Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide, the quintessential guide to wines around the world, Left Foot Charley was named as one of the top producers east of the Rockies.  Contributor Rebecca Davis stopped in this week over at Left Foot Charley to talk with winemaker and owner Bryan Ulbrich--and his four month old son Aaron who had a comment or two--about this latest coup. Rebecca started by asking Bryan, who is this Robert Parker anyway?

::: bake it, baby ::: It’s about as simple as it gets—just flour, water, yeast, and salt. But creating a hot, satisfying loaf of artisan bread at home is still an elusive art, even for the best home bakers. Well, it just got a little easier. Contributor Emily Bingham recently scored a copy of the bestselling book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day and is already losing sleep over all the homebaking adventures that lie ahead.

::: airport terminal madness ::: Producer Hughthir White takes us out (or not) today with an escape from wintry cold Northern Michigan to the sunny shores of Mexico. Getting there is the whole story.
